Setting Up A New Website

As I said in my first post, I’ve recently set up a new MTB (Mountain Biking) site. It’s on a pretty good domain and although I’m not advertising it anywhere yet, I’m getting a few hits a day from type-in traffic. At the moment I’m just focusing on getting loads of articles (all written by myself) on there, I figured around 30 should be enough before I start advertising it.

This is my first article based website and I’m hoping that it should be a lot easier to get inbound links. I don’t intend to spend a penny on advertising, but I’ll have to wait and see if it’s going to be possible to generate enough traffic without paid advertising.

Hopefully I’ll have the site up and running by the end of January and I’m going to aim to get at least one quality inbound link every day after that. Im pretty much writing this post to give me a kick up the ass and set some deadlines for myself because over the last few days I’ve not done very much work at all! Anyway, hopefully by this time next month I’ll be able to report some revenue from the site…

I am going to keep writing at least one article for it everyday anyway. I’ve decided not to post a link from this blog, mainly for competitive reasons, but I’ll be posting all the results of my advertising schemes, visitors and earnings etc. […]

[…] Around this time last month, I set up a new mountain biking site and I’d hoped that by now I’d have made some money from it. I’ll admit now, I’ve been really bad about sticking to the targets that I set myself, plus the fact that at one point I didn’t have internet access for almost a week and I sort of got sidetracked by updating my student site.
